Into the Depths of Epic

“’Epic’ is about overcoming adversity and struggle and finding hope and beauty in the landscapes of unknown territory,” said Bogue, who uses music to set the mood for each work. “In my own healing journey of self-growth, I have found much beauty within unfamiliar territories and the challenges I have had to face.” Her work depicts journeys these concepts as fantasy landscapes while conveying hope and triumph in the light that illuminates the shadows of each piece.

Jeannie Bogue credits her ingrained resiliency and tenacity from an adverse and underprivileged childhood with the fire and passion behind her self-taught art, supplementing her natural talent with lessons from books and a correspondence art course.

“Life was very challenging during this time, and eventually my creativity expanded into other forms of self-expression, such as music,” said Bogue. “Due to the debilitating effects of Complex Trauma and PTSD, I returned to painting as a form of therapy and self-care.”

Her work acts as a meditative process for Bogue, while honoring the dichotomy between light and darkness. Bogue’s epic abstracts find hope and healing even amidst the ominous and sometimes painful landscapes of life.

“I hope patrons leave feeling empowered, and to be able to connect to their own story of triumph by observing my work, that they leave with the feeling of fortitude and determination to face any difficulty they may be facing with power and grace and hope,” said Bogue.
