Irvington Development Organization is partnering with IndyGo and others to sponsor a series of events called "Magic #8 Bus". These events are focused on (mostly) family-friendly, affordable outings to cultural, arts and sporting events. Our first event will kick off with a celebration of St. Patrick's Day by visiting the The Golden Ace, a long-time Indianapolis institution for St. Paddy’s Day revelers ANDit's their 80th anniversary this year so you know the party will be extra special! You will ride the bus – a ten minute trip – have a few beverages and listen to some rockin' live Irish music. Don't worry about getting home. Magic #8 will bring you back with your neighbors (and new friends) who by then will all be Irish 🙂
Magic #8 is a reference to #8 IndyGo bus on E. Washington Street. Attending events together using the IndyGo #8 bus is fun, affordable and serves as a unique way to get you on the bus. We would love to see more families in Irvington, Englewood, Holy Cross and other eastside neighborhoods utilize this amenity more often to explore downtown Indy. No dealing with traffic or parking, just relax and enjoy the ride!
Kindly RSVP for this free event via Eventbrite so we can plan accordingly. (Sorry kiddies, this outing is only for adults 21+)
Logistics
Catch the #8 IndyGo bus at the bus stop closest to your home or meet your friends and neighbors at the Irvington Starbucks at Audubon and Washington Street where one of our more popular bus stops is located. Gather at Starbucks before 5:00p to mingle, have a hot beverage and get to know your neighbors! The bus will arrive at 5:01pm at this stop and glide into our destination at 5:13pm. Additional bus times and info can be found here. Can't make it at 5:00pm or would like to go earlier? No problem! The bus runs on a 15 minute frequency so you can hop one almost any time without much wait. It should be a great time so Stay Safe and Take the 8!
Bus Tickets
Courtesy of IndyGo, we will have some free bus passes available on a first come, first served basis. You will be able to go to the Golden Ace and return with this IndyGo pass for free. IDO volunteers will be giving out a limited number of passes at the Irvington Starbucks. Otherwise, one way IndyGo Bus fare is $1.75. You will need exact fare – the bus does not make change.
Magic #8 is a lot of fun especially on St. Pat's Day where you will mingle and get to know other Eastside neighbors. Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day and there is no greener way to celebrate than taking a Magic #8 trip to the Golden Ace. It's a great way to make new friends, and don't you think it's even better riding the bus with your friends? That's why we call it the Magic #8!
