“Everything Old Is New Again,” the title of this Butler University Wind Ensemble concert, describes the point of connection between every work on this program.
Each selection is an example of how a composer or arranger can transform an older idea or work into something new and different. The centerpiece of the concert is John Williams virtuosic Concerto for Tuba, featuring Butler Professor of Tuba Anthony Kniffen. Also included in the program are works by Antonin Dvorak, Charles Ives, Dmitri Shostakovich, Paul Hindemith, and Ralph Vaughan Williams.
