Open Streets Indy

Join us noon to 5 as we turn city streets into an urban park.  The FREE event will be along Westfield Blvd. between Broadway Ave. and 53^rd St. Open streets initiatives temporarily close streets to automobile traffic, so that people may use them for walking, bicycling, dancing, playing, and socializing. Also known as “ciclovías,” these events and initiatives are innovative ways to achieve environmental, social, economic, and public health goals.   There are already 90 open streets events throughout North America.

Open Streets Indy is a chance to address health, wellness, medicine, physical activity, transportation, community and neighborhood development, business development, public safety, bicycling, walking, accessibility, arts, engagement, and recreation. Explore your city in a whole new way.

Sample of the activities will include:

BigCar hosts Giant Chalk Drawing activity

Fitness classes such as Pilates, Yoga, Zumba

Kids activity zone

Dance, Hula Hoop

Make and take art center by the Indianapolis Art Center

Bike safety and education

Colts in Motion and Pacer Van Fan
