OUROBOROS - a photography exhibition

The ouroboros is a symbol of rebirth and renewal–the continuous cycle of life and death. I think of the snake and I think of myself, continually digesting the same hurt over and over and over again. Continually, throughout our lives, we must reprocess and recontextualize our traumas, making sense of them in the present and how they affect who we are, sometimes minute to minute. The two bodies of work presented here echo this sentiment. Created in two distinct phases of my life, they both ring true to the same themes–identity, where one sits in the world, and making sense of it all through discomfort and experimentation. As I sit here, with all the work crowding around my apartment, I can’t help but think about the snake eating its own tail. I’m sure this will not be the last time I return here, to these struggles, and to this work.
