Pianist MINJU CHOI - A Musical Journey

Beginning in the 1700s with C.P.E. Bach’s brilliant Twelve Variations auf die Folie d’Espagne—a set of dramatic variations based on one of the oldest remembered European tunes; on to the 1800s, with Johannes Brahms’ Sonata No. 2 in F-sharp Minor; continuing to the late 1800s with Nocturne No. 6 in D-flat Major, op. 63 by Gabriel Fauré—known for his fondness of daring harmonic progressions and sudden modulations, supremely elegant with a deceptive air of simplicity; to our times, with Sonata Andina (2000) by Gabriela Lena Frank—mixing elements of the western classical and Andean folk music traditions.

Recently hailed as “positively mesmerizing at the piano” by The Times-Tribune, Ms. Choi has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia as a recitalist, soloist, and chamber musician.  She taught piano at University of Indianapolis from 2010 to 2017; and is currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Piano at Missouri State University.
