Spirit and Place: Art Feeding Empathy - A Burma/Congo Conversation on Peace

Refugees from Myanmar (Burma) and the Democratic Republic of Congo share a belief in freedom and democracy, and they will share this as they talk about art, empathy, and what it means to see the world through someone else’s eyes.

Artists Saw Kennedy from Myanmar and Jean Claude Lofenia from the Democratic Republic of Congo will be sharing their thoughts on art, awareness, and our interconnectedness. Refugees from Myanmar (Burma) and the Democratic Republic of Congo share a belief in freedom and democracy, even with different cultures and languages. Both of these countries have experienced significant conflict and distress, and it has often led to the need to flee their homes, their regions, and their countries.
