Timeless: The Story of the Town Clock Church told by Celestine Bloomfield

Celestine Bloomfield shares stories of this church which is a landmark on the Underground Railroad through the voices of the women. Meet Sarah Lucas, Amanda Finney, Elizabeth McIntosh, Rose Carter and other church members as they lend their voices.

Most New Albany residents refer to the Second Baptist Church as The Town Clock Church. Its majestic steeple can be seen beckoning all. Celestine Bloomfield shares stories about how the original church members were ahead of their time. When newspaper articles said they were running out of time and predicted the demise of this historic building in the nick of time it was saved, restored and thrives today as the only historical African American entity near Mansion Row.
