Built in 1927, The Madame Walker Theatre Center was home to the Walker Manufacturing plant where Madame CJ Walker’s hair care products were produced and distributed. It also boasted a movie theatre, pharmacy, beauty salon, and beauty school. Individuals from across the globe have traveled to Indianapolis to tour the historic Madame Walker Theatre Center. A source of civic and cultural pride, this architectural gem stands beautifully on the corner of Indiana Avenue and West Streets holding much of the history of Madame Walker, Indiana Avenue, and Ransom Place within in.
