Neelu Jain will demonstrate the fine art of using brightly colored threads, elaborate embroideries, intricate wrappings, stunning stitching and a multitude of patterns to create her one-of-a-kind Temari balls.
Temari balls are often given to wish the recipient a brilliant and happy life. “My canvas is a sphere, my medium are threads and the possibilities are limitless,” says Neelu, who studied under a Japanese Temari master and describes her art as the intersection of craft, design, sustainability and revival. Temari is an ancient Japanese folk art, but “given its time-consuming nature, it has taken a back seat in today’s world, to the point of extinction,” she explains.
