Youth Intensive Writing Workshop

It takes time and courage to write and to write well. A regular writing practice and insightful feedback can help high school and middle-school writers by connecting them with their peers and giving them access to exceptional writing instruction.
How it works: In this online creative writing workshop we will meet five times over the fall for two hours, with the bulk of time progressively spent workshopping the stories, essays, and poems of our classmates. Each writer will have the chance to submit their work to the group on four occasions. This work will be shared with the class one week before our workshop. During each class a brief period of time will be spent discussing Dallas Woodburn’s novel  THE BEST WEEK THAT NEVER HAPPENED along with practical techniques to demystify the writing process.
Each writer will submit no more than 8 pages of work for four of the five workshops or 8,000 words maximum for the fall session. The bulk of time in this class will be spent working on one’s own writing. The class is set up to keep you focused on your own writing but also requires you to respond to each other’s work with an eye toward how other writers makes artistic choices.
