Courtney Murphy, an up and coming ceramic artist in Indianapolis, IN, was born and raised in New York, and moved to the Midwest in 2010. She is currently a senior and will receive her Bachelors of Fine Arts from Herron School of Art and Design, Indianapolis, IN in 2017. Her degree is in Integrative Studio Practice and she focuses on ceramics and sculpture. During her time at Herron she has created two and three dimensional pieces in mediums of wood, metal, ceramic, charcoal, graphite, fabric, resin, and foam. Her past work has focused on semi-realism and warping reality into supernatural and fantasy realities. Her recent work focuses on stacking ceramic forms on top of each other to create unusual, but functional forms that can be used for everyday things. Her most recent event was the Speedway Arts and Ale, in Speedway, IN.
