Indianapolis writer and native, Theresa R. McMiller born in 1971.  She grew up  in a working class family.  She was raised by her deceased grandparents, Jimmie Lee Posey and Rosemond Posey after her parents divorced when she was four years old.  Theresa loves animals especially cats.  She is a single, African-American woman who has no children. Theresa was a former IPS student attended and graduated from George Washington High School in 1989.  Theresa moved on to earn a two year associate’s degree in Marketing from Ivy Tech Community College in 1994.  While attending Ivy Tech, she found employment as a teacher’s assistant at onsite daycare center in 1992.  After five years of working in early childhood, she was hired at IPS Foodservice as cafeteria clerk in 1999.  In 2000, Theresa transferred into classroom assistant in Special Needs Education and worked at Washington Community School (as it was called in 2000-2005)  After eleven years, Theresa decided to pursue her bachelor’s degree in English at IUPUI.  She graduated from IUPUI in 2012.  In her post graduation years, Theresa had held a life skills assistant job for eight months with Wayne Township Schools and left in 2013.  She spent eight more months working as a package handler for FedEx until July 2014.  Theresa applied for a Site Director position for the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis in August and hired as Assistant Site Director for Westside-Wayne Township and moved on to full Site Director for IPS-Central in 2015.

Theresa has other hobbies and personal interests in movies, old school music from the 80s and 90s, a cookbook collector, a fan of PBS, a royal watcher since 1981 and a fan of Will and Kate Cambridge.  Theresa enjoys cooking and has an interest in traveling and writing her own fictional stories.
