My work involves a reinterpretation of traditional themes of still life, figure and landscape painting. I work to express the power and elegance of simple forms and everyday shapes; to enhance rather than to depict; and to create a subtle drama on canvas that reaches for an emotional level through the use of contrast of color, texture, shape and rhythm.
It is my goal to infuse my work with a directness, power and size indicative of the American experience. I place the subject matter in the context of an architecturally structured composition to represent the concept of the human element imposing itself on organic natural form.
