“When exploring relationships between one’s self and others there are very few places to hide. it is easy to get lost in the obvious, but eventually you are forced to look at what is behind the obvious and that is where you will find memory. Memory of the past, present, future, and the in-between. Memory of death, decay and destruction seem to invade the empty spaces between thought. Sometimes what you don’t see can be more significant than what you do see. The cracks in the wall. Shadows in the dark. Paw prints on windshields. Random payphones ringing. headlights before they come over a hill. Misspellings in the dictionary. Jello before it has set. hairs on a bar of soap. Murder weapons in people. the smell of eyelashes. Mysterious bruising. people looking dead when they sleep. Biting fingernails too short. The words you no longer feel. The everything and nothing that make up what you embody and the everything and nothing you do not embody. If you hold on too tightly to who you think you are you risk overlooking yourself completely. It is important to be able to lose yourself if you ever want to find yourself.”- Katie Lyn Coles
