Erik is a media artist, composer, and designer. He authors interactive work for print, web, performance, and installation. He also creates soundtracks for film, dance, and video. Erik is a multi-instrumentalist who has been composing and recording music since 1980. He studied music composition with Dr. Paul Steg, ethnomusicology with Dr. Han Kuo-Huang, and saxophone with Joe Daley and Steve Duke. Erik is the son of artist Kenneth Deerly, and grandson to jazz singer Margie Little and saxophonist James Austin Little. Erik’s work has been seen and heard world-wide and currently includes ten full-length music releases, four video shorts, a full-length independent film soundtrack, three collaborative dance scores, two multi-screen video/audio installations, and a growing series of prints and broadsides. His work has earned a Webby nomination, two Addy Awards, and a South by Southwest National Interactive Design Award. He is Publishing Editor of Burningword Literary Journal (www.burningword.com) and serves as Assistant Professor and Coordinator of New Media Commmunications at Indiana University Kokomo.
