Suzann DeLay, a native of California, started her dance career at a very young age with Deane and Barbara Crockett, founders of Sacramento Ballet. While in California, she was a member with the Sacramento Ballet, dancing major roles in Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Copp?lia, Antony Tudor’s Soiree’ Musicale, Pas de Quarte, and Paquita. She also had a brief career with Pacific Northwest Ballet until injury forced her to retire. She has been fortunate to study with Violette Verdy of the New York City Ballet, Robert Barnett of the Atlanta Ballet, Robert Joffrey of the Joffrey Ballet, David Wood (Modern), Gordon Paxman of Ballet West and Janet Reed of the New York City Ballet to name a few. Mrs. DeLay has also appeared in several musicals including The Princess and the Pea and Lil’ Abner. She has also appeared in several PBS specials in the California area.
