Thomas Himsel is a Hoosier artist who was reared on a family farm in Danville, IN and graduated from Purdue University in Turf Management. He built a landscape and retail design firm for 30 years in Hendricks County and has recently retired to devote all of his time to painting. Currently, his paintings are being honored in the following competitions: Hudson Valley Art Association, Old Lyme, Connecticut; Indiana Heritage 30th Exhibition, Nashville, IN., Ada Shultz Award; 84th Hoosier Salon Exhibition, Indiana State Museum, “Homestead Light,& Taos Beauty”; and at the Indiana State Fair, Fine Arts Division, 2nd place recognition for “High Country Meadow.” Thomas has received numerous awards beginning in 1991 when he began entering juried shows in oil painting. In the past three years, he has exhibited in 10 national juried shows.
