I have been painting and making art since I was 7 yrs old. My uncle was an artist and taught me how to paint. I knew as a child I wanted to be an artist but somehow along the way I was convinced it was not a responsible choice of career so when I went to college I decided to be a premed Biology major.  It wasn’t until my second year I decided to follow my heart and switched to fine art, I still felt like I needed a plan for a day job once I graduated so I minored in psychology with the long term plan of pursuing Art Therapy.  That is exactly what I did. Graduated with my Masters of Art in Art Therapy in 2007.

I worked within my profession as an art therapist for about 7 years after I graduated. I continued to make my own art and did a few art shows in Philadelphia but I wasn’t able to give it the attention it deserved.  I enjoyed my work as an art therapist but I still had a yearning to do more of my own artwork, and after coming home from a long day of listening and helping others (no matter what age group) was exhausting.  I tried a little bit of everything, nursing homes, hospitals, schools with children and more traditional one on one adult therapy.  Nothing was completely fulfilling the way I had dreamed of as a child, having a studio and being a full time artist.
