Duane King is an Indianapolis artist who specializes in drawing and sculpting. Born and raised in Indianapolis, Duane found art at a young age—working in crayon drawings, Play-doh and snow sculpting. At about the age of 12, he got his hands dirty in clay and has been working in clay ever since. He studied art extensively in high school and received formal art training at the Herron School of Art, studying Visual Communication and Design, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. After receiving a well-rounded training in the arts, Duane has worked for over 25 years in the Graphic Design field. Working in design, full-time, he has continued to work in fine arts, concentrating on drawing and sculpting, but working in a wide variety of formats. “My drawings and sculptures run from traditional and realism to cartoon and caricature. I try to capture the joy, the humor, the fun in life: the sense of wonder in a child’s eye, a day spent with friends and loved ones or the joy of making music.” Duane’s artwork has won numerous awards and been exhibited around the state of Indiana, including the Hoosier Salon Annual Exhibit. He is a member of the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association, Hoosier Salon and Indianapolis Arts Center.
