Lori Leaumont is a graduate of the Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis, IN, with a BFA in Ceramics. She was born and raised in New Orleans, LA, and while she loves living in Indianapolis, she is still very influenced by the unique culture of the city she grew up in (especially the food!) She works primarily in porcelain, both on and off the potter’s wheel, but her background in painting, and her love of comics and illustration have inspired her to combine the two. During COVID, she has focused on digital illustration using an iPad and Procreate to continue working and processing ideas from home.

Her work has been shown in juried group shows both locally and nationally, and she currently teaches freelance workshops for children and adults, as well as creates work in her studio at home.

Her influences include her hometown, fairytales and folklore,  Japanese anime and pop culture, internet and nerd culture, as well as ceramic artists such as Ayumi Horie, Molly Hatch, and Jason Walker. She loves creating objects that can be loved and used every day, and that also tell a story. She hopes to convert everyone to her addiction to handmade ceramics, and firmly believes that once you drink your morning beverage out of a handmade mug, you’ll never want to use anything else. She also loves teaching both adults and children how to play in the mud again, which she thinks is equally addictive.
