Hilary McDaniel-Douglas has always been interested in artistic communication of all sorts. Attending Interlochen Arts Academy and Camps on full scholarships for Dance and Writing, she went on to Sarah Lawrence College and Indiana University in diverse fields such as, African Studies, Audio Technology and Contemporary Dance, finally graduating in History and continuing in Contemporary Dance in Graduate studies under Mr.Bill (William) Evans. She is Certified in Evans Technique, but has turned her focus to the space above the stage and aerial arts continuing a passion for trapeze that was born in the 1980’s. She feels Aerial Arts meld the physical human with the animal human taking us back to our tree climbing roots which are second nature to us. She is the artistic director of Project In Motion Aerial Dance Company and has just completed a summer tour with the company of The Palace at Night: Inspired by the Work of Alberto Giacometti. Especially intrigued with the vertical, she embraced the chance to climb next to Richard Serra’s incredible “Vortex”last summer 2013 at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and will continue the 2013/2014 Season with performances in diverse spaces such as The Indianapolis Museum of Art, The Grand Canyon, El Paso’s Chalk The Block Festival, The El Paso Symphony’s Kid’s Palooza , Art In Odd Places Festival Indianapolis and Project In Motion’s Studios. Project In Motion will partner with The East Village Dance Project under the direction of Martha Tornay for the second presentation of “The Shell Shocked Nut” produced by La Mama Theater and will continue this PTSD theme inspired by the music of David Lowery for PIM’s Spring Shows.
