After graduating from Herron School of Art, I became an advertising and editorial illustrator. I spent almost 20 years working for local and national agencies before my passion for painting influenced me to rethink my artistic direction. I now consider myself equally divided between illustration and painting. I enjoy the challenge of retelling an author’s story visually, but relish having total creative control in my fine art. I have had eight children’s books published and hope to add more to the list. In my fine art my choice of subject matter is almost exclusively landscape, even the seemingly ‘non-objective’ images I create, depict the outside world. I would say that movement, light and texture characterize my work.
