The process of becoming a painter has taken more than 20 years. As a young adult, art was effortless. I created with intention and confidence, communicating a nascent understanding of my world. But, when I enrolled in college I chose art history as my major instead of painting. I was convinced that I didn’t have enough to say. I didn’t realize that I was simply afraid.

After graduation, I began a circuitous career that took me from museum jobs to technology and marketing. I spent my days climbing the corporate ladder seeking better job titles and more money and my nights struggling to make meaning.

In 2019, I returned to painting – after more than a decade spent seriously soul-searching. And, I finally found my voice.
