11312 Hazel Dell Pkwy, Indianapolis, IN, 46280

Anne Cleary is a native Hoosier living in the Indianapolis area. She grew up out in the Zionsville countryside. Her childhood spent roaming the fields, creek and woods inform her work to this day. Much of her abstract work is based upon nature, landscapes and the sky, often referring to the mysterious connection human beings have with the natural world. She studied art, English, and vocal music in her undergraduate years, going on to pursue graduate work in vocal performance (Opera). Music is an integral part of her life, and a certain musicality can be seen in some of her painter’s language-  brushstrokes may sometimes conotate musical notation, layers of markings and glazes- perhaps a visual chord. She is currently working heavily in textiles- specifically painted and dyed silks and natural fibers for collage, wall hangings and fashion. She works out of her home studio in the top of a barn on the North side of Indianapolis, and is visited often by appointment.  Website.,                              Instagram : @anne_cleary
