The Viewfinders program offers teacher training in Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS), which is a facilitated arts-based discussion method that develops students’ vocabulary, reasoning, and critical thinking skills. Additionally, the program connects teachers with a year of VTS curriculum for use in the classroom, offers IMA staff for school site visits, and engages classes in VTS-specific field trips, which serve as a capstone to the VTS experiences throughout the year. A new component of the program that the IMA is piloting this year is to offer assessment and documentation of VTS in teachers’ classrooms. Current IPS school partners may participate.
