Edison School of the Arts, an Any Given Child Indy Pilot School, has received a $325,000 grant award from the Walton Foundation. The Walton Family Foundation, a philanthropic group governed by the family that founded Walmart, was created to fuel solutions for persistent educational programs. The Foundation believes that innovations in school models and how parents and teachers can be empowered have helped to improve schools and results for students for over a decade. The Foundation is committed to supporting efforts that promise to produce new innovations that will spur further improvements. Edison School of the Arts, whose mission is to provide rigorous academics through the implementation of arts integration infused directly in the core curriculum, will use funds to develop coaching and training for school educators and administration, as well as ongoing professional training and educational development in conjunction with the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
