Performing Artists Wanted for Pop-Up Events During Basketball Events in Indy

Submission Deadline: Wednesday, February 17, 2021, 11:59 p.m.

Performance fees: All performers will be paid at competitive rates based on group size and length of performance.

Project Description

The NCAA will stage the entire 2021 men’s basketball championship in Indiana, with the majority of the tournament’s 67 games taking place in Indianapolis. As Indianapolis prepares to host one of the largest college sports events in history, all of Downtown will be turned into an exciting, welcoming site for the players, media, and local community to enjoy being safely together to experience the excitement around this unprecedented event. With special thanks to the Lilly Endowment, funding has been secured to create paid opportunities for visual artists, poets, musicians, spoken word poets, dancers, actors, and more.

The Arts Council of Indianapolis and Indianapolis Cultural Trail Inc, with support from Indiana Sports Corp, and Downtown Indy, are seeking performers for pop-up live performances during the tournament across multiple outdoor venues between March 11 – April 5.

All performances must either be original work, considered free of copyright protection as part of public domain, OR work for which the artist has secured the proper permissions from the copyright holder.

LOCATION: Performance spaces are currently being confirmed. All stages will be temporary and most will be outside. Locations may include Monument Circle, Georgia Street, Lugar Plaza, Davlan Park (Mass. Ave), and various pop-up locations.
