The Internal Program and Operations Coordinator is a two year position responsible for planning and managing transformative public arts and humanities programs of the Indiana University Bloomington Arts and Humanities Council (AHC) at the Cook Center for Public Arts and Humanities at Maxwell Hall. Assists the Director and Associate Director of the AHC in developing, planning, and hosting of lectures, exhibits, conferences, open studio tours, etc. to advance the center as a thriving site for public A&H programs. Oversees necessary programming tasks, including budget construction, event staffing, supply and equipment acquisition/setup. Assists with contracts, coordinates travel/lodging plans, helps develop publicity and cultivate audience, and oversees event surveys and assessments. Performs related administrative duties, including scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, tracking budgets, and preparing reports as required by IU’s internal administrative systems and to ensure the smooth coordination of staffing and resources at the center. Meets and works closely with administrators, staff, faculty, students, curators, and the greater Bloomington community to ensure programming appeal, timeliness, and effectiveness. By consultation, research, professional workshops/conferences, as well as first-hand attendance and participation in similar programs, explores and researches current trends and issues, as well as local and regional assets in A&H programming with an eye to future programming.

Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and four years of related work experience.

Expertise in the methods and values of the arts and humanities as well as the potential of these areas for public engagement and community building (preference will be given to candidates with humanities degrees and public humanities experience). Strong analytical and planning skills with the ability to independently manage multiple projects with competing demands in order to determine priorities. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with multiple audiences, including faculty, students, and the general public. Sound judgment and strong decision-making skills with the ability to collaborate with a wide range of individuals. Practical application and experience with databases, spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software, as well as other applications required for data organization, analysis, and information reporting.

 

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree. Experience in project management and/or administration as well as experience in program development, public relations, and outreach.

Working Conditions / Demands
Work requires flexible hours and availability to manage events that occur in the evenings and on weekends.
