Women’s Works is a juried fine art exhibit, celebrating women artists and is presented annually by the Northwest Area Arts Council at the Old Court House Arts Center in Woodstock, IL. Women’s Works provides an opportunity to showcase the creative artwork of women artists in North America and internationally. This year will mark the 34th Anniversary of the show. Due to Covid, we have moved this year’s show to June, with the hope that vaccinations will allow us a larger audience to see the show. JUDGE: The Northwest Area Arts Council is proud to have Chicago-based artist Audra Jacot as our judge. Audra Jacot’s work celebrates the empowerment of sexuality, emphasizing on being unapologetic and owning yourself and your desires. She works in multiple mediums, but her main loves are clay and neon. In confronting her own sexuality, she draws inspiration from her Filipina-Mormon upbringing. Jacot received her MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2014, through the Art & Technology Studies program. Her work has recently been featured in OpenTV’s Emmy-nominated Brown Girls, Netflix’s Easy, Bravo’s 100 Days of Summer, and Shea Couleé’s music video, Crème Brûlée.She was also named one of VAM Magazine’s Top 20 Chicago Influencers of 2015. In 2016, she juried Woman Made Gallery’s One in Herself show, which confronted the traditional and contemporary definitions of the word ‘Virgin.’ Currently living in Chicago, she continues to show work and curate at both traditional and DIY gallery spaces. She is currently part of theSiblings art collective (formerly The Condo Association), whose mission is to empower and support the creativity and productivity of queer people, people of color, women, and other marginalized communities. We encourage you to learn more about her at her website, audrajacot.com.

ONLINE GALLERY: This year we will also be adding an online gallery with work for sale online as well. We will be building and advertising this gallery in partnership with the online art services firm Biafarin (www.biafarin.com). In addition to their own site, Biafarin will have the show available on 2 other online art sites as well for more exposure. Women artists 18 or older, may submit any original work, completed in the last two years.

No previously accepted works in either Real People or Women’s Works will be accepted for Women’s Works 2021. If your work is collaborative (created by more than one artist), please contact us so that we can make sure all information is collected.
All work must be for sale. There is a 30% commission on sold work.
All works must be available through the entire run of the show (June 3 – June 27, 2021).
Gallery size limitation of work is eight (8) feet in any single dimension and 50 lbs. If your work exceeds these limitations, you will need to contact us at: womensworks2021@womensworks.org.
AWARDS: Cash prizes totaling more than $1500.00 will be awarded. In addition the online artist management platform Biafarin will be donating 2 Gold and 2 Blue one-year membership packages. We encourage you to take a look at Biafarin and learn more about them at www.biafarin.com.

JURYING FEE: There is a $40 jurying fee for the show. There is a $10.00 discount for current NAAC Members or applicants to either Women’s Works 2020 or Real People 2020; email us for the discount code. No additional Entry Fee upon Acceptance. Payments must be made through CaFÉ.

ENTRY DEADLINE: Final deadline for Women’s Works is Sunday, April 25th, 2021, at 11:59 pm Mountain Time. NAAC is not responsible for incomplete entries and/or payments not received by the due date, so we encourage artists to enter early. All Notices will be e-mailed through the CAFE system by Sunday May 2, 2020; should the jury complete their task earlier, we will send out e-mail notices at that time. If you do not receive an email about all of your submitted pieces by Monday May 3, please contact us at womensworks2021@naac4art.org.

DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS for delivery of works will be emailed to accepted artists through the CAFE email system.

SUBMITTING IMAGES FOR JURYING: Each entrant may submit up to three digital images, each representing a separate piece for jurying. Jurors will be evaluating each image/piece individually. (If you wish to submit a detail shot of your work, consider using a split image showing both the work as a whole and a particular detail you want to highlight). A maximum of two works per artist may be accepted by the jury to this show, so again please be sure all three of your works will be available for the duration of the show and not committed to other events or buyers. Saturday, May 29, 2021 – All work must be at the gallery for set-up
Thursday, June 3, 2021 –  Exhibition Opens
Opening Reception: Tentatively planned for Saturday, June 12: 6-9 pm for Artists – 7-9 pm for the general public. (This date is tentative and will be based upon the current Covid situation.)
Saturday, June 26, 2021 – 5pm – Exhibition Closes. (Unsold work will be repacked and returned to artists during by the third week of July.)
