The Award Winning Nickel Plate Players are pleased to announce auditions for “Indiana – The Musical” – a one-of-a-kind historical event – sponsored by Hamilton County Tourism and endorsed as a Legacy Project by the Indiana Bicentennial Commission.

With the advice and counsel of local historians we have created an original script for Hamilton County and the State of Indiana. “Indiana – The Musical” (a celebration of the sights and sounds of Indiana) tells the rich (and sometimes scandalous) past and present history of Indiana and is about the making of a Hollywood Movie Musical.

Performances are scheduled for July 16, 24, 29, 30 (various venues in Fishers) with a final performance on August 27th at the Nickel Plate District Amphitheatre in Fishers.

We are seeking actors, singers and dancers. Singing and non-singing roles. Many performers may play multiple roles as well as chorus.

MAIN CHARACTERS:

Director – (Male, Age range: 30 – 60.) Larger than life, His style; BIG AND SPLASHY FOR ENTERTAINMENT VALUE.

Historian – (Male or Female – Adult, any age range) Trying to make a serious Documentary about the important history of Indiana; often at odds with the Director.

Assistant Director – (Male or Female – Adult, any age range) Plays the diplomat between Historian and Director; knows how to handle them both.

Music Director – (Male – Adult, any age range) Very much the Musician/Artist. Very particular and imaginative.

Producer – (Female – Adult, any age range) Strong Personality.

Writer – (Male or Female – Adult, any age range) Studious, serious-minded; your stereotypical writer.

Other film making personnel: Will be ensemble members who play gaffers, sound men, slate board operator, etc.

Historical Characters:

Cole Porter , Hoagy Carmichael, William Conner, Frank Bailey, Coyote Johnson, Anna Harrison, Mary Todd Lincoln, James Dean, Steve McQueen, etc.

Presidents: Lincoln, Harrison, McKinley, Roosevelt, Truman

Also seeking children ages 8 – 12 to play various minor roles.

Casting is by Ideal Talent / Ellen Kingston (Artist Concierge at the Carmel Palladium).

Auditions will be held at Ji-Eun Lee Music Academy (10029 E. 126th St.?#?D? Fishers, IN 46038) on May 2nd and 3rd and at Ideal Talent (1052 Summit Drive, Studio D, Carmel, IN 46032) on May 3rd and 4th. All auditions are by appointment only.

Non-singing roles prepare a monologue of your choice.

Singing Roles: (Prepare a monologue if you are also auditioning for a speaking role) Prepare 16 bars of a vocal selection of your choice. An accompanist is provided.

All auditioning should be prepared to read from the script.

Dancers: Come prepared for a dance audition.
