APPLICATIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED

Now in its 10th year, the Efroymson Contemporary Arts Fellowships were established to increase public awareness of contemporary visual art in the Midwest. The intent of the fellowship is to reward creativity and encourage emerging and established individual artists by supporting their artistic development. Since 2004, $950,000 has been awarded to 45 Midwest contemporary visual artists.

The Efroymson Contemporary Arts Fellowships, are made possible by the Efroymson Family Fund, a donor-advised fund of Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF).

FELLOWSHIP CATERGORIES
Applicants must work in one of the following mediums:

  • Installation
  • Sculpture
  • New media (video, computer generated or 3-D)

Wearable or functional decorative art including quilts, jewelry, vessels or pottery will not be considered.

AWARD AMOUNTS 
Five (5) $25,000 Fellowship awards will be given to contemporary visual artists that currently reside in the Midwest. 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 
AGE 25 or older by May 13, 2016
BE A RESIDENT of either Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota or Wisconsin as of May 2015
COMMITMENT to reside in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota or Wisconsin for the duration of the 12 month fellowship

Past Efroymson Contemporary Arts Fellows are not eligible to apply.

SELECTION CRITERIA
All applicants will be reviewed in an anonymous process by a nationally selected jury. The Juror will review digital images and/video and the accompanying narrative based on the following criteria:

  • Quality & skill
  • Creativity & uniqueness
  • Commitment to developing work
  • Impact the award will have on the artist’s career

Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2016.
