AUDITIONS: Have you signed up to audition for Bard Fest 2016? This year celebrates the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s Death and Bard Fest aims to knock our second festival out of the park! Last year, Bard Fest paid over 30 area thespians by profit share and enjoyed three very well-received shows! This year promises to be just as big of a success, with a new line up of extremely creative shows!

First Folio Productions, the folks who recently brought you an exciting and inspired Hamlet, bring Hamlet himself, Carey Shea, now in the director’s seat with King Lear starring David Mosedale. Casey Ross Productions, brings our Managing Director and the soon to be leading man of our upcoming production, CRP presents EQUUS, Taylor Cox, back to Bard Fest as Coriolanus, directed by Casey Ross. (Some roles are filled, please see event link for cast list).

And Garfield Shakespeare Company brings a colorful production of the beloved comedy Twelfth Night featuring original music by it’s director, last seen in First Folio’s Hamlet, Chris Burton who will also direct the production. All roles are up for grabs in Twelfth Night, and they would love to hear you sing a brief acapella song if you are interested in a role in this show.

AUDITIONS are JUNE 26th and 27th! Sign up now to be a part of the second annual Bard Fest Shakespeare Festival: 3 unique companies. 3 unique shows.
Bard Fest will run for 3 weekends, this October: Bard Fest Oct 13-16 / 20-23 / 27-30. The individual productions dates are not yet solidified, but actors should be prepared for a 3-weekend October run, each show will have 6 performances spread throughout those 3-weekends in a festival calendar that is TBA. *Actors are paid by profit share. Last year, Bard Fest was able to pay over 30 area actors!

Please prepare one dramatic classical monologue and one comedic classical monologue. Both one-minute in length. Actors may also be asked to read sides from each of the 3 2016 Bard Fest shows. *If you plan on auditioning for Garfield’s 12th Night please prepare a brief a capella song or be prepared that you may be asked to sing, as the show will involve original music.

Bard Fest is a new Indianapolis Shakespeare Festival that focuses on an actor-focused quality festival experience. Bard Fest Indy was founded in 2015, by 3 Indiana-based theatre companies (First Folio, CRP and the Garfield Shakespeare Co.) to bring a professional quality, yet intimate, Shakespeare Festival experience to Central Indiana all under one black-box’s roof. In it’s first year, Bard Fest provided paying work to just over 40 local area actors and housed 3 well-reviewed Shakespeare performances: As You Like It (First Folio), Othello (Garfield Shakespeare Co.) & Timon of Athens (CRP).

BARD FEST’S MISSION:
Unique companies. Unique shows. Bridging the gap between our city and The Bard with professional quality, actor-focused, accessable Shakespeare.
