AUDITIONS

Auditions are open to all students ages 14 – 18
(Entering freshman year of high school through recent graduates)

Please choose to attend one of the following:

Friday, April 22 @ 5:00 pm
All those auditioning must be present at the start of auditions.
Registration table opens at 4:30 pm.

Saturday, April 23 @ 1:00 pm
All those auditioning must be present at the start of auditions.
Registration table opens at 12:30 pm.

CALLBACKS: Sunday, April 24 @ 1:00 pm
Those needed will be notified by the end of the day on 4/23.

Auditions are held at Civic Theatre in the Tarkington at the Center for the Performing Arts, 3 Center Green, Carmel, IN 46032. Please arrive at the Civic Theatre Education Suite located in the Tarkington by 5:00 on Friday and in the Tarkington Lobby by 1:00 on Saturday. We will be doing the mandatory movement/dance part of the audition first each day. Registration will close once the dance audition begins. After the dance auditions, students will sing individually in the order that they sign in.

Please bring the following with you to the audition:

Your best 16 measures or a chorus from a musical theatre song or a song similar in style to those in LEGALLY BLONDE (sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided)
We might ask you to sing something else at your audition. It is not required to bring a contrasting piece, but if you have one, please bring it along.
A current photo of yourself that can be attached to your audition form

There will be a $100 supply and program fee if cast in LEGALLY BLONDE. Scholarships are available. More information will be available at the audition registration table about what this fee covers.

AUDITION PREP SESSION

FRIDAY, April 15 @ 5:00 – 6:30
The directors will discuss the show, characters, and will introduce some of the songs in the show. There will also be a question and answer period. This is a free workshop and no prior registration is needed.

LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL Characters

Elle Woods; Gb2 – G5 Soprano Belt: The quintessential Valley Girl who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School and realizes that she has more than just a pretty face and a bubbly personality. A true triple threat with a soprano belt.

Emmet Forrest; B2 – A4 Tenor: A smart and sensitive law student who takes Elle under his wing. A strong singer and actor with good comic timing.

Margot, Serena, Pilar; G#3 – F5 Soprano Belt: Elle’s sorority sisters. Margot, Serena, and Pilar are Elle’s entourage who follow her through the story acting as chorus. Strong singers and dancers with good comic timing and youthful energy.

Paulette Buonofuonte; A3 – A5 Soprano Belt: Owner of Hair Affair, a local salon, who is friends with Elle and longs to find a man for herself. Brash and funny, accent a plus, a strong singer with a soprano belt.

Professor Callahan; A2 – F#4 Baritone: A pompous and manipulative law professor at Harvard. A shark in the courtroom who will win at any.

Warner Huntington III; Eb3 – Ab4 Tenor: Attractive, but pompous. Charm and charisma. Breaks Elle’s heart. Will do whatever it takes to achieve dream of becoming a senator.

Vivienne Kensington; A3 – F5 Soprano Belt: Overachieving, smart and savvy law student. Intellectually driven, yet feels threatened by Elle’s presence Harvard.

Enid Hoops; G3 – G5 Soprano Belt: Feminist law student at Harvard.

Kyle B. O’Boyle: Attractive, physically fit, UPS delivery man. Paulette’s dream man. May double with another role. No but featured in the River Dance number.

Brooke Wyndham; A3 – G5 Alto or Soprano: An exercise video star and former sorority girl. Needs a high level of aerobic stamina while singing.

Sundeep Padamadan: Foreign Harvard law student. Former leader of his country.

Aaron Schultz: Smug and arrogant Harvard law student.

Nikos Argitakos: Brooke Wyndham’s pool boy. Featured presence in “Gay or European”. May double with another role.

Carlos: Nikos’ “best friend.”

Leilani; B3 – Eb5 Alto: Delta Nu sorority sister.

Kate; Bb3 – Eb5 Alto: Delta Nu scholastic chair.

Grand Master Chad: UCLA frat boy.

Winthrop, Pforzheimer, Lowell: Harvard Law admissions officers.

Dewey: Paulette’s trailer-trash ex- husband.

Chutney Wyndham: Brooke Wyndham’s jealous step-daughter. Featured in the courtroom as a witness.

Whitney: Harvard law student whose father is next in line to be the Speaker of the House.

Elle’s Mom and Dad, Dad-D3 – E#4 Baritone, Mom-C4 – E5 Alto: High society socialite and rich golfer respectively.
