 Orlando, FL, Unknown

The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority seeks one or more artist(s) to develop the design for the permanent specialty flooring for the four areas for the Ticket Lobby Program.  The special flooring areas serve as the four main entrances to the Hyatt Atrium (east) and the Great Hall (west). There are two areas on the A side and two on the B side for a total of 4 areas. The floor areas are envisioned to serve as “Welcome Areas” for guests.

To further develop the concept as an entrance, the floor areas have been dedicated for a specialty flooring feature with terrazzo.  In keeping with the unique natural characteristics of Florida, a theme of Central Florida for the “Welcome Areas” further ties the concept together with the cultural tradition of greeting places. The art for each location is intended to vary on the theme (four unique designs) to assist with creating entry landmarks that serve as meeting points and wayfinding assistance as well as providing texture to add another dimension to the lobbies. The intent is for the specialty flooring is to further build on the Orlando Experience®. The “Orlando Experience” is achieved through the design concept and passenger conveniences: light and airy, family oriented, natural materials and finishes indicative and reflective of the Central Florida environment.

Budget Description
This program will offer four distinct locations for the permanent specialty flooring. The budget for the specialty flooring is six hundred thousand dollars ($600,000). A stipend of $1,000.00 for each shortlisted artist will be paid after presentation of a proposal. The artist fee will be negotiated after selection. The work will be installed by a contractor selected by GOAA.
