For 43 years, Al Lewis and Willie Clark were one of the most famous comedy teams in showbiz. They were a dream team on stage, but a nightmare off. The secret is–Lewis and Clark can’t stand each other. Now, years into retirement, the cantankerous old comedians have been asked to reunite on television and perform their most famous sketch. Let the shenanigans commence, the one-liners fly and the hilarity begin! THE SUNSHINE BOYS is considered one of Neil Simon’s greatest comedies. Each role is a comedic gem.

CHARACTERS:
WILLIE CLARK –One half of the Lewis & Clark comedy team. Stage Age: around 70 yrs., he is retired and still living in NYC. Willie is funny, cranky, and holding onto dreams of a solo comeback.

AL LEWIS – The other half of the Lewis & Clark comedy team. Stage Age: around 70 yrs., he is retired to New Jersey and living with his daughter. Al is funny, more “buttoned-up” and settling into his golden years.

BEN SILVERMAN – Willie’s nephew, a Talent Agent; he is Willie’s lifeline to the outside world. Stage Age: late 30’s to mid-40’s. He is kind, funny, always working the angles and a little stressed out.

TV SKETCH NURSE – TV Actress playing the clichéd “sexy bombshell” vaudeville nurse. Stage age: 20’s or 30’s.

REGISTERED NURSE – She is a real nurse hired to take care of Willie. She is a no nonsense, take no prisoners type. Stage Age: 40’s or 50’s.

NOTE: They’d love to find a versatile actress who could play BOTH of the “Nurse” roles. It would be a fun and challenging opportunity for an actress.
