Indy Free Tax Prep

Did you or your household have an income of $64,000 or less? You may qualify for FREE tax preparation.

Indy Free Tax Prep is a network of Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites that offer free tax preparation to individuals and families with a combined household income of $64,000 or less. In 2016, more than 7,500 tax returns were prepared for Central Indiana residents at no cost, resulting in more than $8 million in refunds and $1.8 million saved in tax preparation services.

This initiative supports United Way of Central Indiana’s community goal of reducing the number of financially unstable households in Central Indiana. The Indy Free Tax Prep network currently operates VITA sites in Boone, Hendricks, Marion and Morgan counties. Many of our Central Indiana neighbors do not have access to affordable tax preparation or are unaware of available credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit (CTC), and Education Tax Credit.
