CALL FOR EXHIBITS 2017/18 – GIFTS OF ART PROGRAM
MICHIGAN MEDICINE, UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN
The deadline has been extended to May 31, 2017.

What is the Gifts of Art Program at the University of Michigan?

One of the first and most comprehensive arts in healthcare programs in the  US, Gifts of Art brings the world of art and music to Michigan Medicine, the academic medical center of the University of Michigan. At the dynamic  intersection of arts and medicine, Gifts of Art serves a diverse community  of patients, families, visitors, faculty, staff and students.

About the Exhibition Program
The nine exhibit galleries are located in busy areas of the hospitals and clinics with approximately 10,000 visitors a day. The Exhibition Program is designed to calm nerves, uplift spirits, and engage minds. This supports the healing process and reduces the stress and anxiety often associated with a healthcare setting. Experiencing the arts in a medical setting can be life changing.

Selection Criteria
In selecting artwork, they take into consideration the medical and emotional sensitivities of our viewers. Overt sexual content, violence and nudity will not be considered. They will also avoid pieces that are confrontational, chaotic, obviously depressing or contain negative medical connotations.

They are seeking solo and group exhibitions of original art around a  cohesive theme. Individual artists and arts organizations may apply. They exhibit both 2-D wall mounted art and 3-D art in display cases. Shows are 90 days in duration.

Gifts of Art galleries provide extensive exposure. They handle publicity, sales (if artwork is for sale), and insure artwork while in their possession.
