PEOPLE + PROPERTY: Uncovering Housing Inequities
Would you like to join us as an artist or writer for House Life Project‘s, People + Property series? If so, check out the call for proposals below. This is a paid opportunity, with compensation for completed work by agreed upon deadlines.
CALL for ARTISTS + WRITERS
From May through October of 2017, the HLP People + Property series will focus on race and ethnicity as related to issues of vacant housing. They’ll explore this through six key themes: history, space, wellness, equity, movement, and change. Each month, they’ll have a community conversation around one of these themes. As an extension of each conversation, they’ll invite writers and artists to generate creative work that explores the complexity of the issues and generates new perspectives and questions. These cultural works, informed by personal knowledge, collective experience and ongoing research, will be shared with the diverse public via events and exhibitions at the HLP house and beyond.
Artists and writers selected for the People + Property series will be matched with one of the six key themes: history (May), space (June), wellness (July), equity (August), movement (September), or change (October). They will be expected to participate in a community conversation related to their theme, connect with the HLP site and communities, and communicate regularly with the HLP curator or creative editor.
