iMOCA and Englewood Project Seek Cross-Stitchers

The Englewood Project Seeks Cross-Stitchers
iMOCA at The Murphy

The Englewood Project is the Indianapolis based extension of the global artwork Love Letter To the World by Kurt Gohde and Kremena Todorova from Lexington Kentucky. Love Letter To the World was born from Kurt and Kremena’s desire to create a global community by intertwining poetry, tattoos, design, photography, spoken word, storytelling, and music. Frank X Walker, an NAACP Image Award winner, wrote the Love Letter To the World poem as both an apology and a renewed commitment to our troubled world. 130 participants will choose a line of text from the poem to have tattooed on their bodies for free while another 130 participants will choose to create cross-stitches from patterns based on the unique Indianapolis design.

This global artwork crosses 5 continents with tattoos in 12 different languages. The Englewood Project design features a unique graphic element highlighting the Englewood Village Community and Indianapolis. All tattoos and cross-stitches will be photographed to be included in a video-based artwork to premiere at a community celebration.

iMOCA is accepting sign ups to create a cross-stitch for The Englewood Project. Participation is free and all materials are supplied. A limited number of free tattoos are still available.
