7th Annual Art Squared takes place on September 16th!
Over 100 artists, musicians and writers will participate

Back for its 7th year, Art Squared will take place on September 16, 2017 from 11AM – 6PM will once
again take the festival to the streets in Fountain Square. The signature event, free to the public,
continues to support local artists and the community it services providing an opportunity to make art, Buy Art or Be Art.

MAKE ART. Calling all visual and writing artists to participate in the long running Masterpiece in a Day
(MIAD) Artist Competition. Participating is easy (and FREE)! Bring your art supplies or your favorite
pencil (or laptop). Interested artists should register by 9:00am at 924 Shelby Street and will have until
3:00pm to create their masterpiece in a day. Over $2,000 in cash prizes are awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd
place entries in both writing and visual art categories in 2017.

New this Year – Masterpiece in a Day for Youth
Next generation artists have an opportunity to showcase their talent in our first Youth competition.
Ages 12 and under will receive a certificate for participation and the top three entries, from youth ages
13-17, will receive free art supplies.

Masterpiece in a Day Visual Category, Ages 18 +
1st Prize $1000
2nd Prize $500
3rd Prize $250

Both categories will accept 2 dimensional entries which include painting, drawing, photography,
printmaking, and most textiles.

Masterpiece in a Day Writing
1st – $300
2nd – $150
3rd – $50

Entries must be limited to less than 1000 words. Computers/printers will be available (901 Shelby Street
and at the library), but writers are encouraged to bring their own laptops if possible. All work must be
revised into legible typed form. Writing must be completed during the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the

Fountain Square area. Writers must submit two printed copies before 3:00 p.m. More formatting
information will be provided on the day of the show.
