Meet an Author, Be an Author on October 14!

Ever wanted to meet a working author? Maybe you’ve always wanted to be an author? You can do both at Meet an Author, Be an Author at Central Library on October 14. This event is presented by the Eugene & Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award, in partnership with The Indianapolis Public Library and the Indiana Writers Center. All the daytime programs are free and open to the public. There’s even some activities just for kids or kids at heart! Here’s a
run-down of some of the day’s highlights:

10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
Flash Memoir Workshop for Families – Learning Curve Arena

Learn how to write small, emotionally powerful memories that, put together, will tell the story of your life and the life of your family. Storytellers of all ages are welcome, especially children and teens! The first 30 participants will receive a free journal. Stickers, magazines, markers and more will be provided to help bring your story to life! Presented by the Indiana Writers Center and featuring Darolyn “Lyn” Jones.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Indy Author Fair: Meet Hoosier Authors – Simon Reading Room

Network with more than 40 up-and-coming Indiana authors, who offer a wide variety of writing styles and genres. Book sales and signings will be available. For a list of participating authors, click here.

1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
Time Management for Authors – Learning Curve Arena
Presented by 2017 Emerging Author Finalist Bryan Furuness

This session will help you organize your life to find time for writing and offer strategies for using that time well – how to quiet the “monkey mind,” start strong, end smart and steer through the twin traps of distraction and procrastination.

3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Meet the Authors – Clowes Auditorium

Sit down with the winners and finalists of the 2017 Eugene & Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award for a discussion of their writing and connections to Indiana. Moderated by John Krull, director of Franklin College’s Pulliam School of Journalism and host of “No Limits” on WFYI Public Radio. Book sales and signings will follow. Featuring Kekla Magoon, Lori Rader-Day, John David Anderson, Bryan Furuness, Angela Palm and Francesca Zappia.
