WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION – James Moriarty will teach participants how to effectively use their smartphones, camcorders, DSLRs and mirrorless cameras to make digital films. The workshop will consist of four 3-hour classes. Each class will focus on a different aspect of video production. The workshop will be designed to be hands on, and the participants will learn by helping make a video from start to finish.

CLASS 1 – Introduction to Digital Filmmaking

Editing theories and principles
The ins and outs of basic non-linear video editing

JAMES E. MORIARTY – INSTRUCTOR
James E. MoriartyJames E. Moriarty is the owner of Moriarty Media and the producer of the Carmel Film Forum. He is an award winning artist and the recipient of arts grants from the City of Carmel and the Indiana Arts Commission. James earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1991, where he majored in graphic design, photography and filmmaking. He has taken those artistic skills and turned them into his life’s work by continually advancing his knowledge of the technology required to produce digital media. James and his associates have produced a variety of media projects such as: independent documentaries, industrial films, commercials, music videos, educational websites, and interactive kiosks.
