 Indianapolis, IN, Unknown

The Philharmonic Orchestra of Indianapolis, central Indiana’s largest all-volunteer orchestra, seeks applicants for an Executive Director to continue the orchestra’s 76-year tradition of service to the community.

The organization consists of a 75-piece symphony orchestra and a 100-voice choir, led by a team of eminent conductors. The organization presents a 5-concert subscription series annually, consisting of four orchestral concerts presenting symphonic classics as well as the best of modern compositions. In addition, they present a spectacular celebration of Black History Month, featuring their Symphonic Praise Choir performing a combination of gospel choir and classical works, in an event that is the only one of its kind in this region. They also perform several pops concerts at venues such as the Central Library and area parks.

Education is a key part of their mission. They operate a week-long summer day camp that provides an opportunity for under-served students to study with top educators and performers in the area. Being Artists in Residence at Pike High School, orchestra members mentor Pike students. They also partner with Indianapolis Public Schools with a music appreciation program that culminates with a live orchestra concert.

This is a part-time position with compensation commensurate with the duties. The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the organization, with a special focus on income generation through grants, ticket sales, and individual contributions.

The ideal candidate will have experience in managing an organization of this size. The candidate should have experience seeking grants, preferably in the arts area. The candidate will be comfortable working with and leading volunteers. The candidate will be conformable working independently on a flexible schedule, with the discipline to accomplish goals with minimal supervision.

They are accepting applications from now until April 27, and wish to have the new Executive Director ready for work before the end of May. Please forward resumes or inquiries to Charlie Mullen (cmullen@acerentacar.com 317 432-1440)
