FOOTLITE MUSICALS announces open auditions for INTO THE WOODS, the Young Adult production for the 2018-2019 season. The staff is seeking an ethnically diverse cast of young adults between the ages of 18 to 25. You must be at least a 2018 spring graduating high school senior to audition.

Upcoming Auditions

Open auditions for this production are Saturday, May 12th from 1:30pm to 4:30pm or Sunday, May 13th from 6:30pm to 10:00pm. Callbacks will be Wednesday, May 16th at 7:00pm. Saturday auditions will take place at the Footlite Annex at 1835 North New Jersey Street (across the Footlite parking lot) and Sunday auditions will take place at Hedback Community Theater, home of Footlite Musicals, at 1847 North Alabama Street. Please plan to arrive by the audition start time. If you have a conflict with the audition times, please contact the producer or director ASAP to arrange an audition.

Please come to the audition dressed to impress, and be prepared with a verse and a chorus from a Broadway musical other than INTO THE WOODS. An accompanist will be provided; please bring sheet music in the correct key. You may be asked to read from the script.

Rehearsals will begin in mid-May and will be in the evening during the week, with some rehearsals on Saturdays and Sundays. No rehearsals on Fridays. Production dates are June 29, 30 & July 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14 & 15.

About INTO THE WOODS
James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone’s favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece… and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.

The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. One of Sondheim’s most popular works, INTO THE WOODS is a musically sophisticated show with the opportunity to feature actors adept at dark comedy. Designers will especially enjoy highlighting the fantastical elements of this magical word.
