“Prelude to a Kiss” by Craig Lucas

Peter and Rita are young, sweet, and delightfully dry-witted. They “meet cute” and have a whirlwind romance. But at their wedding, when a mysterious old man asks to kiss the bride, there’s a rush of wind. A low rumble fills the stage. Rita and the Old Man have somehow magically exchanged souls and are trapped in each other’s bodies. Together, Peter, Rita, and the Old Man devise a plan to reverse the magic. As they do, each one must learn to make peace with his or her own place in the world. “Prelude to a Kiss” is at once a classic romantic comedy and a contemporary fairy tale.
