Exhibition Rationale
“A horticulturist is someone who uses scientific knowledge to cultivate and propagate plants, and then uses this knowledge to provide technical information to fruit, vegetable and flower growers as well as farmers.” – Sokanu

‘Horticulturist’ is a multimedia show illuminating the power of locally, sustainably, and responsibly grown food. Through visual art and the written word, the stories about agriculture in Indianapolis will be shared to strengthen communal culture and healthy living.

The exhibition is looking for two main kinds of work:
First, paintings or drawings about locally grown food. This includes direct still life work, or can be images of local gardens where food is grown. Work must be hang ready.

Second, well edited short stories or blurbs about distant or recent memories of growing your own food or raising animals. Stories about urban gardening is preferred, but meaningful stories about farming in the Indianapolis area is acceptable. Stories should have accompanying photographs, but it is not required.

The purpose of this show is to educate and enrich the enjoyment of agriculture and coming up with ways to partake in the future. Please send any questions you might have! Have questions about what you can submit? The curator would be glad to talk with you!

Work in the show may be shared via Full Circle Festival’s social media to promote the festival. Please include a social media handle (or website) so that your account can be shared with the
images or text.
