Curatorial Proposals

IU Kokomo Downtown Gallery is looking for curatorial proposals for a February 2020 Exhibit. There is no fee to submit a proposal. The following criteria must be submitted.

Submission Requirements

• Detailed exhibition proposal about the concept and plan for the exhibition (1-2 pages)
• List of all participating artists with bios and samples of their work
• Curator’s CV
• Curatorial work samples

GALLERY:  The Downtown Gallery is located in downtown Kokomo. The gallery displays artwork by students, faculty, alumni and local, regional and national artists throughout the year.

ELIGIBILITY:  This juried proposal process is open to curators over the age of 18, who reside in the United States. All work must be original and completed within three years of the exhibition date. All work must be accurately represented in jpeg images.  Work not meeting these criteria will not be exhibited. There is no fee to submit a proposal.

GUIDELINES

• Proposals must be conceptual and focus on artists, projects, and themes that are innovative, challenging, and engaging
• The proposal must include 2 or more artists
• Curators may not include their own work

ENTRY:  All submission materials must be sent through the gallery email ugallery@iuk.edu. All submissions will be juried by the galleries board of directors. The gallery reserves the right to reproduce images accepted into the show for promoting and archiving the exhibition. Due to a generous donor, there will not be a fee required for entry. Questions should be directed to ugallery@iuk.edu subject line “February 2020 Curatorial Proposal”.

DELIVERY & PICK-UP:  Delivery and pick-up of artwork will be the responsibility of the curator.  The curator may choose to either personally drop-off and pick-up the work during gallery hours or ship the work to the gallery.  It is the curator’s responsibility make sure all shipped artwork is in a sturdy, reusable box with a PREPAID return shipping label inside.  Any work not picked up 30 days after the end of the show will become the property of the Indiana University Kokomo Downtown Gallery.

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER:

• Entries due: 9/8/2019
• Notifications to curators on or before: 10/1/2019
• Setup: 1/29/2020-2/6/2020, (during gallery hours: alternate hours upon request)
• Exhibition Dates: 2/7/2020-2/27/2020
• Opening Reception: 2/7/2020 5:30pm-8:00pm
• Pick-up Artwork: 2/28, 2/29, 3/4, 3/5/2020 (during gallery hours or by appointment)
