Fat Turtle Theatre Company and Arts for Lawrence announces Open Auditions for Go Be Joan by Nathaniel Adams

Open auditions for Go Be Joan by Nathaniel Adams, Directed by Brandi Underwood.

Fat Turtle will be partnering with Arts for Lawrence for performances. All Auditions and rehearsals will take place at All Souls Unitarian Church. Please read the synopsis and characters below to learn more. All roles are open, they will be in need of a strong early teen/tween female for this show.

General Information:
They will be having those that audition read from the script, no monologues needed. Audition forms will be provided at the auditions. For any audition questions please direct your question to the Producer Aaron Cleveland at aaron@fatturtletheatre.com

For those that aren’t familiar with the process at Fat Turtle, after auditions, they will have a staged reading April 17th, then go into workshops to tweak and polish the script. After the workshops, they jump into rehearsals and get the play fully on its feet. This is a truly unique opportunity for actors in Indianapolis. To be involved in the creation of a character. Not just making your choices on the stage, but having direct feedback with the playwright to help make choices on the page. Stipends will be offered to all involved. Please bring a list of all conflicts to auditions.

Synopsis:
In this full length play a friend from her past comes back into Joanie Wright’s life. She must decide if she’s ready to re-enter the world after a three-year period of seclusion after the passing of her husband. With the “help” of her daughters and granddaughter, she might just find out what she is really made of. All of the Wright women have to come to terms with change.

Characters:
Joanie Wright: (65) Confident but deeply wounded.
Katherine Panelli: (40) Joanie’s Daughter, Resilient and argumentative
Lindsie Wright: (37) Joanie’s Daughter, Caring Concerned, very traditionally minded
Cara Panelli: (12ish) Katherine’s Daughter: Consumed by her phone
John Patti: Late 60’s Joyous and helpful to everyone he encounters
