FOOTLITE MUSICALS announces open auditions for THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, the Young Adults Production for the 2019-2020 season. The staff is seeking an ethnically diverse cast and choir of young adults between the ages of 18 to 25. You must be at least a 2019 Spring graduating high school senior to audition.

Open auditions for this production are Saturday, May 11th and Sunday, May 12th. On May 11th, choral auditions will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and cast auditions will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. On May 12th, cast auditions will take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Callbacks will be Tuesday, May 14th at 7 p.m. All auditions will take place at Hedback Community Theater, home of Footlite Musicals, at 1847 North Alabama Street. Please plan to arrive by the audition start time. If you have a conflict with the audition times, please contact the producer or director ASAP to arrange an audition.

In addition to principal roles, we have two featured ensemble groups: The Congregation and The Choir. For the Choir they would like 16 to 32 male and female vocalists. Love to sing? Here’s your chance! These are non-acting, non-dancing roles for singers. The rehearsal commitment for The Choir is substantially smaller than for the principal roles.  The Congregation is an on-stage presence, musically supporting the action of the play.  They are a group of musical theatre performers who function as narrators and play multiple featured roles.  They will play 40+ roles including: Jehan Frollo, Florika, Father Dupin, King Louis XI, Tribunal, Madam, St. Aphrodisius, gypsies, soldiers, and citizens of Paris. All Ensemble members are expected to be comfortable with some movement, with some ensemble members as skilled dancers. Any acrobatic skills are a plus and you are asked to note those on your audition form.

Please come to the audition dressed to impress and be prepared with a verse and a chorus from a Broadway musical other than THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME. If you would like to only be in The Chorus, you may opt to sing a more classical song. An accompanist will be provided; please bring sheet music in the correct key. Be prepared to read from the script and bring clothes/shoes to dance. A free dance audition workshop will be offered Monday, May 6th from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the theater.

Rehearsals will begin in mid-May and will be in the evening during the week, with some rehearsals on Saturdays and Sundays. No rehearsals on Fridays. Production dates are June 28, 29 and 30, and July 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, and 14. There is no participation fee to be involved.
